Last.fm Interview: CBS Thinks Last.fm Will Turn A Profit This Year | paidContent

It was made a subscription service and still hasn’t turned profit. Last.fm was the greatest thing since Pandora became a US only service. Once it became subscription service, it lost its edge -in my view. Some people might be willing to pay to do more than listen to music online but I for one wasn’t. I am a student with little funds to my name.

After its 2007 acquisition, it doesn’t seem like CBS (NYSE: CBS) has been able to get the most from its $280 million Last.fm outlay. There’s been no TV scrobbling, no profit, the site’s key execs have left and fitting the trendy Silicon Roundabout, London, startup in to a U.S. megacorp appears to have been a challenge generally.
