Dave Carroll, the author of the smash hit “United Breaks Guitars” is not done with United Airlines quite yet.

According to a article Carroll has promised to make a trilogy of his experience with United Airlines featuring “his dealings with Ms. Irlweg”- the United representative that informed him that his compensation claim was denied

Recently, Carroll was awarded compensation but refused it having instead asked United to donate any compensation to a charity.

Here is a question for thought, is Carroll purposely riding the fame that this incident has brought him and purposely refusing compensation for his personal gain being that any agreement with United might include a clause that basically asks him to shut it thereby preventing him from releasing additional songs about the subject?

Or could it also be that that he moved on beyond seeking compensation from United. After trying and trying and being disillusioned with the whole incident he had taken things into his own hands by releasing his own compensation in the form of the song. In effect it might be that he let go and just decided to make the best of the situation he found himself in.

Both ways, from ‘Carroll-ian’ perspective United reneged on a social contract and they will have to pay a price.

There was a time when United was in the driver seat in respect to this whole incident and that was when Dave Carroll was seeking compensation directly from them.

Once he decided to compensate himself -so to speak- they lost that preeminent position and are now in the passenger’s seat.

United it seems, is in for a Public relations nightmare.

And Carroll’s not finished yet. He has promised to write two further tunes. The next one, due later this summer will feature his dealings with a customer service agent named Ms Irlweg,”in a very light hearted way‚” he said.

Carroll says he is no longer angry and had a blast recording United‚ and looks forward to producing the rest of trilogy.

“They’ve given me a creative outlet that has brought people together from around the world” he writes. “Thanks United! If my guitar had to be smashed due to extreme negligence, I’m glad it was you that did it.”
