A Diaspora Jew’s vision for Middle East peace – Haaretz – Israel News

I am going to make an admission. I thought this article would be an interesting read but stopped once I got to the end of the excerpt posted below.

Why? simply because this article seemed like it was just another reason and excuse given to prevent the creation of a Palestinian state.

Excerpt via A Diaspora Jew’s vision for Middle East peace – Haaretz – Israel News.

Palestinians President Mahmoud Abbas and various Western leaders have taken of late to touting the “illegal Jewish settlements” in the West Bank as a major obstacle to peace.

After visiting the settlements and coming to know them intimately first hand, I can agree that in many ways, they do indeed complicate matters.

Nevertheless, forcing the settlers to leave the West Bank will not create peace, nor will it create a viable Palestinian state. Why? Because the Palestinians are simply not ready for a state of their own.

It would have been better to say “okay, Palestinians are not ready for a state, lets help them create a state” or that “Palestinians are not ready for a state, but there are those who would want to help Palestinians create a state of their own.

Instead up to the point which I read, the article took the line that “Palestinians are not ready for a state” Period.

Though the article is an objective assessment on the flipside it sounded like one more excuse given to prevent the creation of a Palestinian state so I stopped reading the article.

Think solutions not problems.

Now I have not completely read the article but it no longer sounds interesting to me.

So Ill finish reading it later when I am less tired.

But I think this article represents what I believe is the major flaw in how the parties to this conflict approach the conflict

It is that they don’t see that their fates are forever intertwined.

They are like conjoined twins. When something bad happens to the one, the other is also affected.

In such a case then would it not be better if both twins ensured that the interests of the other is always catered to?

Knowing fully well that what is good for the other is also good for me.
